ECU Purple Pantry ribbon cutting and naming ceremony honoring donors Drs. Dennis Ross and Billy Williams

East Carolina University will hold a ribbon cutting and naming ceremony for the Williams-Ross Purple Pantry in the Main Campus Student Center. This event will honor the generosity of Dr. Billy Williams and Dr. Dennis Ross. The pantry’s mission is to decrease food insecurity among students at ECU. When basic needs are met, students can focus on being successful.

ECU’s Williams-Ross Purple Pantry is housed in the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement and is a collaborative effort between campus departments, community partners and donors.

  • WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m. – ribbon cutting, remarks and refreshments in the second floor art gallery atrium and Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement. Suggested coverage time for reporters: 10:30-11:30 a.m.

  • WHAT: The mission of the ECU Williams-Ross Purple Pantry is to decrease food insecurity among ECU students and increase access to personal care items. Since opening in 2018, students have been able to collect their most needed food and hygiene items. Members of the ECU community dedicate their time, talent and treasures to create a sustainable resource on campus to combat food insecurity.
