More than 1,800 Pirates set to begin next chapter

A Pirate motived by her grandmother’s words, a football standout honoring his father, an illustrator armed with a wealth of experience, a future nurse who will take care of patients at the same hospital that saved her life as a child, an immigrant with a knack for time management, and a mother-to-be who’s a whiz at statistics are among the more than 1,800 East Carolina University graduates who will be honored Friday, Dec. 17.

ECU will host two Fall 2021 commencement ceremonies at Minges Coliseum to accommodate graduates and their families while adhering to university community expectation guidelines due to the coronavirus pandemic.

These Pirates have overcome a lot during their tenure at ECU, but have used that adversity to power their futures.
