What advice do you have for other students? Time is your biggest asset. Use it wisely.

If anyone wants insight into how Oswaldo Rangel Corona approaches life, look at the following advice he gives to students: Time is your biggest asset. Use it wisely.

Use it wisely he did.

Rangel Corona is set to graduate in December with an entrepreneurship degree from the Miller School of Entrepreneurship and East Carolina University’s College of Business after stepping on campus as a freshman 2 1/2 years ago.

“I went to an early college and have always enjoyed school,” said Rangel Corona. “I think that made it easier to do 20-plus credits semester after semester. It was also a challenge for me. All my life, I’ve worked at a fast pace. I hate wasting time.”

Rangel Corona took full advantage of what ECU provided by participating in numerous endeavors that focused on giving back to the region, such as RISE29 and eNC Innovates!; supporting diversity, such as the AMEXCAN Latino Council; and his degree, which includes a 2020 internship and a nonprofit job with social media influencer and entrepreneur Mr. Beast.

“Working with Jimmy (Mr. Beast) definitely opened my eyes to entrepreneurship,” said Rangel Corona. “It proved to me something I’d known all my life but often failed to remember: Hard work pays off. It also showed me that strategy is everything, regardless of the industry. Plus, working for Beast Philanthropy has opened my eyes to the many ways you can leverage your brand to do good in the world.”

The latter is why Rangel Corona eventually set his sights on entrepreneurship.

“All my life, I have been a problem solver; it’s a part of my personality. I also really enjoy helping others. These two traits, paired with my love for innovation, made entrepreneurship perfect for me.”

An EC Scholar, Rangel Corona credits ECU’s Honors College for sparking his love for service and community.

“Being surrounded by such driven and high achieving individuals pushes you to do more (for others),” said Rangel Corona. “The Honors College also is a great resource that provided me with countless opportunities in my time at ECU. They supported me in all of my endeavors.”

Those endeavors will continue after graduating in December. Rangel Corona plans to continue his education and pursue a Master of Business Administration.

“There is no doubt in my mind that I will be involved in business for the remainder of my life,” said Rangel Corona. “Setting a strong foundation is very important to me, which is why I am getting my MBA.”
