#PiratesMaskUp Against COVID-19
We have made our way to week two of the fall semester, and I am happy to see how many of our students have embraced the #PiratesMaskUp approach as we all battle against COVID-19.
While we understand that a big part of the college experience is socializing, making new friends and sharing fun times together, we are also living through a very different time right now. It’s difficult to ask college students to wear masks, remain socially distant and wash your hands/use sanitizer frequently, but these are all things we simply must do if we are to continue with in-person activities on our campus.
There are far too many gatherings at off-campus locations where students are not wearing masks and are not practicing healthy behaviors and doing so in numbers larger than the 25-person limit set forth by the State of North Carolina.
Our ECU Police Department as well as the Greenville Police Department continue to patrol and respond to gatherings where protocols are being violated. As a reminder, students and student organizations found to be in violation will be referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
We respect and understand that these are trying times and know that a majority of our students are following the protocols in place. We thank you and encourage your continued support.
If we are to continue functioning in an on-campus environment, we simply cannot do this without you – all of you. Please do your part to stay healthy and safe, but also to keep ECU’s faculty, staff and fellow students safe, too. We are in this together – we must remain #PirateStrong.
