One Simple Wish founder to speak at ECU Sept. 11

Danielle Gletow, founder of One Simple Wish, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, in the ECU Science and Technology Building, Room C307. The lecture is free and open to the public.

In 2006, Danielle Gletow and her husband, Joe, became foster parents to an 18-month-old boy. He had been removed abruptly from an abusive home. That began their work for foster children.

One Simple Wish, a non-profit that helps grant the wishes of children in foster care, was founded in 2008 to empower people to support children who’ve been victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment in simple yet meaningful ways. Gletow posts the kids’ wishes online to give others an opportunity to help. Gletow was named a CNN Hero in 2013.

Gletow will have dinner at West End Dining Hall with several Pitt County foster children and ECU Honors College students before the public presentation.
