Digital exhibit documents Dec. 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor attack

An image from the digital collection at ECU depicts an attempt to rescue survivors near the USS West Virginia during the Dec. 7, 1941 raid on Pearl Harbor.

In recognition of the 70th anniversary of the attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor, members of the Joyner Library at East Carolina University have encouraged individuals to visit the digital exhibit, “Day of Infamy, 1941-2001.”
Professor Jonathan Dembo curated the exhibit 10 years ago, drawing from resources in the East Carolina Manuscript Collection. The collection includes many manuscript collections and oral histories pertaining to World War II, with particular emphasis on naval history.
