ECU comes together for fourth annual day of giving
East Carolina University will celebrate its fourth annual Day of Giving on Wednesday, March 18. Pirate Nation Gives is a 24-hour fundraising event that encourages alumni, friends, faculty, staff, parents and students to come together and support the university.
Last year’s event raised more than $805,000 and was a truly successful showcase of Pirate Nation’s generosity. This year’s campaign aims to build on that engagement with a goal of raising $1 million.
“I know that this Pirate community will come together like never before to give back to this university that we all love so much. And I know we can reach our goal of $1 million because as I am fond of saying, Pirates care and Pirates share,” Interim Chancellor Ron Mitchelson said.
Throughout the day on March 18 leaderboard challenges for areas of campus will track their support and encourage giving with a competitive spirit. Online social media challenges will allow for participants to win bonus money for their favorite ECU area or fund.
On campus, interactive chalkboard walls will be set up at the Main Campus Student Center and the Health Sciences Campus Student Center for students, faculty and staff to share what they love about ECU.
Pirate Nation Gives is about everything East Carolina – students, research, arts, athletics and more – and gifts can be made to any program a donor feels most passionate about. Combining one person’s philanthropy with that of others creates limitless possibilities. Every gift, whether large or small, makes an impact by enhancing programs and facilities, supporting faculty and giving current and future students access to a top-tier education.
