ECU FACULTY AND STAFF

Game day adjustments set for Oct. 23

Afternoon Classes

The Chancellor’s Executive Council strongly recommends that all university classes and operations on Main Campus end at 3 p.m. Oct. 23 to reduce the potential safety risks for our students, faculty, staff, visitors and the community.

While it is not mandatory that classes and operations end early, supervisors are encouraged to be flexible in allowing staff to use leave time or a flex schedule to make up for any lost time. The University is not closing and appropriate staffing levels are required to provide access to University resources during normal business hours.

Faculty are encouraged to use alternate methods, such as out-of-class or online assignments, to make up the time lost in the classroom. Some operations and courses – classes or labs that meet only once a week – may not be able to shut down. These exceptions should be reviewed by department heads and adjusted when feasible.

Faculty members who have classes scheduled after 3 p.m. on Oct. 23 are encouraged to notify students if alternative arrangements will be made.
