Events mark Diversity Week at Brody
A series of midday lectures, discussions and presentations will cover issues surrounding religious, racial, ethnic and sexual diversity Monday through Thursday at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
All events begin at 12:30 p.m. in Room 2S-04 of the Brody Medical Sciences Building. Limited lunches will be provided.
On Monday, a panel of medical students will discuss Buddhism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Protestantism in an event titled “Religion 101.”
On Tuesday, a video titled “Racial Inequality & Health” will be shown and discussed.
Wednesday will feature a presentation on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered sexual health. Speakers will be Summer Wisdom, coordinator of the ECU LGBT Resource Office, and Dr. Kaden S. Stanley, staff psychologist at the ECU Counseling Center.
Thursday’s lecture is titled “Using Interpreters in the Examining Room,” presented by Luke Sanders, an interpreter with Vidant Health.
Diversity Week is sponsored by the Brody Medical Student Council and school’s Office of Diversity Affairs.
