Pirate ISP Radio Network Adds FM Flagship For Football

GREENVILLE, NC  —   The East Carolina University Athletics Department and ISP Sports, the new multimedia rights-holder for Pirate sports, have come to terms on a five-year agreement with Classic Rock 106.5 (WSFL-FM) which will enable the 100,000-watt station to become the football FM flagship for the Pirate ISP Radio Network beginning this fall.

WSFL’s signal, which reaches Wake County to the west and nearly the entire North Carolina coastline to the south and east, will allow Pirate fans to receive a new extended level of coverage throughout the upcoming season. In addition, Talk 1070 (WNCT-AM) will serve as the AM flagship for the network and provide exclusive coverage of ECU men’s basketball and baseball.

“We are delighted to join with ISP Sports and the Beasley Broadcast Group (owners of both WSFL and WNCT) in providing this outstanding flagship partnership beginning with the upcoming football season.” ECU Director of Athletics Terry Holland said. “Interest in our athletics program has never been higher and our fans are deserving of the best possible radio coverage. WSFL’s 100,000-watt FM signal adds significantly to our football coverage and the addition of 50,000-watt AM as our basketball and baseball flagship station is a very positive step in that direction as well.”

Officials with the Beasley Broadcast Group were equally excited with the announcement.

“We are very excited about the new affiliation between Beasley Broadcast Group, East Carolina Athletics and ISP Sports,” Bruce Simel, Vice President and Market Manager, stated. “Beasley is dedicated to providing Eastern North Carolina the best in local programming and information and ECU athletics play an important role in that effort.”

“Having always had a strong presence in the Eastern Carolina market, we are delighted that Classic Rock 106.5 WSFL-FM and Talk 1070 WNCT-AM will be the home to Pirates’ football,” George G. Beasley, Chairman and CEO commented. “Under the leadership of Terry Holland and his team, ECU is poised for a great future and we want to be a part of it.”
