ECU host International Forum
This year East Carolina University will sponsor a series of eight lectures on international affairs on topics ranging from the Middle East and Russia to Intelligence Reform and Overseas Job Outsourcing.
The program, Great Decisions 2005, is sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association and will take place Saturday mornings starting Jan. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Rivers West Building Auditorium.
Each session will include an hour-long lecture, followed by a short break with refreshments and then a question and answer period. Following the tradition of the Foreign Policy Association, attendees will then have the opportunity to voice their opinion on the tropic by “voting” for or against certain foreign policy positions for the U.S. government. Each year the FPA consolidates the results of the voting by citizen groups all over the country participating in The Great Decisions Program and presents them to the Secretary of State, as an example of citizen interest and involvement in international issues.
The cost of attending is $49 for all eight sessions, which includes the Great Decisions textbook. Full-time students and teachers can attend for free and purchase the book for $15. Sessions can be attended on an individual basis at a prorated cost. Teacher renewal credits or continuing education units can be earned for attendance.
