Seitz named ECU vice chancellor

(Dec. 10, 2004)   —   Kevin Seitz, a veteran leader in higher education business affairs, was named vice chancellor for administration and finance at East Carolina University today (Dec. 10).

Seitz will oversee university budgets, human resources, business services, information technology, accounting, and campus operations, including facilities, parking and transportation and university police.

Chancellor Steve Ballard, announcing Seitz’s appointment at a Board of Trustees meeting, praised his experience and leadership. “Kevin Seitz has served in a similar position at an excellent research university,” Ballard said. “It was clear during his visits to ECU that he will be an excellent fit with the collaborative leadership team we are building here. I am excited that he will be joining the East Carolina family.”

Seitz currently is vice president for university services at the State University of New York at Buffalo and will take the financial helm at ECU Feb. 1, 2005.

“I am delighted to be working with Chancellor Steve Ballard and the rest of the management team at East Carolina University,” Seitz said. “My wife and I are both looking forward to joining the Greenville community.” Seitz replaces former vice chancellor Richard Brown, who retired. Chuck Hawkins has been serving as interim since September.

In his current post, Seitz is responsible for all state and research business functions of the university, facilities functions and administrative oversight of several offices. He was first employed at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1974 and has held various roles over the last three decades, includes leadership roles in university services, business services, the office of the controller and the personnel department.

He received a M.B.A and a bachelor’s degree in management from Buffalo.
