Beverly Healthcare donates to Brody School of Medicine

GREENVILLE, N.C.   (July 20, 2004)   —   Beverly Healthcare has donated $98,500 to the Department of Family Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University to support the department’s nursing home teaching project. The department provides primary medical care for the residents of the local Beverly Healthcare facility at 527 Moye Blvd. 

Hal Garland, executive director of Beverly Health Care-Greenville, recently presented the check to Dr. Mark Darrow, interim chairman of the Department of Family Medicine. Also present were Dr. Kenneth Steinweg, director of the medical school’s geriatric division, and Dr. Cynda Johnson, dean of the medical school.

The money will be used to support the instruction of family medicine residents and medical fellows in geriatrics and to help pay for salaries and teaching materials for the program. 

This year is the 23rd that Beverly Healthcare has supported the teaching project.
