ECU offers two new PhD programs

GREENVILLE, NC   (Jan. 20, 2004)   —   East Carolina University has received approval to establish two new Ph.D. programs, which will begin enrolling students in the fall semester of 2005.

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors, meeting last week in Chapel Hill, approved the programs in medical family therapy and rehabilitation counseling and administration.

Both programs plan to admit about five full-time students in their first class. In addition, the medical family therapy program will admit part-time students.

The newest Ph.D. programs join the Ph.D. degree in technical and professional discourse that was approved by the board last month. ECU now offers a total of 15 doctoral programs plus the M.D. degree.

Another six Ph.D. programs are in various stages of planning.
