MASTERING CLAY
ECU students create in ceramics class
Students in the East Carolina University School of Art attend to creations in a ceramics class taught May 22 by art professor Jim Tisnado (http://www.ecu.edu/cs-cfac/soad/ceramics/tisnado.cfm). Students Kayleigh Schnackel, upper left, and Andrew Smith, lower right, are pictured concentrating on their creations. Work developed by the class is shown in lower left and upper right quadrants.
The ceramics program in the ECU College of Fine Arts and Communication trains students to apply technical skills, ideation and critique processes. Courses include hand building, wheel throwing, mold making and casting, kiln design and construction, clay and glaze chemistry, problems in installation, individual research and senior exhibition. The School of Art and Design offers bachelor of fine arts and master of fine arts degrees with concentrations in ceramics.
