ECU to host international conference on terrorism April 19-20

East Carolina University will host an international conference on the Moral Psychology of Terrorism, Implications for Security April 19 -20 at the Croatan Green Room on campus.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Rico Sneller of Leiden University in The Netherlands, speaking on “Dreams, Morality and Terrorism”; Dr. James Lewis, University of Tromso, Norway on “Social Encapsulation and the Legitimation of Violence”; Dr. Richard Feist of Saint Paul University, Canada on “The Indecisive Nature of Battle: Montesquieu and Counter-Insurgency”; Dr. Mahmoud Masaeli of Saint Paul University on “Confused Sense of Selfhood and Moral Psychology of Terror”; and Dr. Derek Maher of ECU on “Tibetan Terrorism? A Case Study in Name-Calling.”

Additional speakers and session chairs from ECU include David Durant (Joyner Library), Dr. Carmine Scavo (Political Science), Dr. Calvin Mercer (Religious Studies), Dr. Robert Thompson (Political Science), Dr. Alethia Cook (Political Science) and Dr. Jalil Roshandel (Political Science)
