Physicist to discuss dark matter, dinosaurs as Voyages lecturer at ECU

Dr. Lisa Randall, Harvard University physicist, will present “Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs,” at 7 p.m. April 4 in Wright Auditorium at East Carolina University. Randall is the final presenter in the 2018-2019 Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences Voyages of Discovery Series.
Tickets are $15 for the public, $10 for ECU faculty and staff and $5 for youth. Tickets may be purchased online at www.ecu.edu/voyages.
Randall’s studies involve the most fundamental questions about the nature of matter, space and the universe. Her research into extra dimensions of space, particle physics and cosmology has made her one of the most important and cited theoretical physicists today, and in previous years she was named one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” and was one of 40 people featured in the 40th anniversary issue of Newsweek.
She is a member of the Academy of Science, American Philosophical Society, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Physical Society, an honorary member of the Royal Irish Academy and an honorary fellow of the British Institute of Physics.
Randall earned her Ph.D. from Harvard and held professorships at MIT and Princeton before returning to Harvard in 2001. She is the recipient of honorary degrees from Brown University, Duke University, Bard College and the University of Antwerp.
