ECU professor receives design awards
(Feb. 23, 1994) — An East Carolina University art professor has won two publication design awards at the national PRE- magazine competition held this month in Chicago.
Eva Roberts of the ECU School of Art won a top “Pre-miere” award for her design of the North Carolina Literary Review (NCLR). Her second award was an honorable mention for the design of the Minnie Evans Catalog.
The NCLR is a biannual publication that features stories and articles by and about North Carolina writers. It is produced by the ECU Department of English. The Minnie Evans Catalog accompanied a 1993 ECU art exhibition of drawings and paintings by the late Minnie Evans of Wilmington.
A communication arts professor, Roberts has taught at ECU since 1991. She is the art director for the North Carolina Literary Review.
Both of her award-winning publications will be displayed in the Gallery of Design Excellence, March 14 – 16 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Chicago. The March issue of PRE- magazine will also feature her designs with other competition winners.
South Wind Publication Company, the publishers of PRE- magazine, sponsored the event. Designers from across the country competed for awards.
