ECU physician to address medical graduates at convocation

GREENVILLE, N.C.  —   Dr. James G. Peden, associate dean for admissions at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, will be the speaker at the medical school’s annual convocation Friday, May 4.

The convocation will begin at 9 a.m. in Wright Auditorium on the ECU campus.

In addition to his admissions duties, Peden is also a professor and director of the internal medicine/psychiatric medicine residency program at Brody. He has bachelor’s and medical degrees from the

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Other schools in the ECU Division of Health Sciences will also hold convocations. The School of Nursing convocation will be Friday at noon in Wright Auditorium. The speaker will be Dr. Sylvia Brown, interim dean of the School of Nursing. The School of Allied Health Sciences will hold its convocation at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5 in Minges Coliseum. The speaker will be Robert C. Greczyn Jr., president and chief executive of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, a member of the ECU board of trustees and a 1973 graduate of ECU.

Commencement exercises for all ECU graduates will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
