ECU to host 2018 Spring Career Fair and Education Career Fair

East Carolina University’s Career Services will host two career fairs on Feb. 28 at the Greenville Convention Center. The Education Career Fair will be held from 8-10 a.m., followed by the Spring Career Fair for all majors from 1-4 p.m.

The Education Career Fair is required for all ECU education majors graduating this spring and is open to all education majors or students interested in pursuing an educational career. During the two-hour session, students will have the opportunity to network with more than 100 employers, including school systems in North Carolina from Chapel Hill, Pitt County and Wayne County, as well as employers from Charleston County (South Carolina) and Suffolk (Virginia) Public Schools. In addition, attendees can learn about the adjustment from college to the first year of teaching and have a free professional headshot photo taken for their social media profiles.

“Career fairs align perfectly with ECU’s institutional mission of providing a national model for student success, public service and regional transformation,” said Patrick Roberts, associate director for ECU Career Services. “Our goal is to create opportunities for students to establish relationships with employers that directly relate to their career goals.”

According to recent ECU student survey responses, 93 percent of students that attended a previous career fair discovered at least one employer related to their major or career interests.

That afternoon, the Spring Career Fair for students of all majors at ECU will connect almost 200 employers from across the country recruiting for internship, part-time and full-time positions. Career fairs give students and alumni the opportunity to meet and interview with employers from many different industries including banking, construction and health care. Employers will provide information on career opportunities and conduct interviews following the event.

Participating companies include Aflac, Autism Society of N.C., Coca Cola Bottling Company Consolidated, Credit Suisse, Enterprise, GEICO, Greenville Utilities Commission, Humana Inc., Hyster-Yale Group Inc., Mayne Pharma, Meridian, NAVAIR, NetApp, Northwestern Mutual, Patheon Pharmaceuticals, QVC, Red Ventures, Sanderson Farms Inc., T.A. Loving Company, UNC Healthcare, US Foods and Vidant Health.

ECU Career Services offers the following suggestions to attendees:

  • Dress in business professional attire and bring your ECU 1 Card.
  • Research the employers who will be attending the event by visiting www.ecu.edu/career and prioritize what organizations to target for employment.
  • Develop and practice an introduction or power greeting.
  • Create or update your resume that has been critiqued by a career counselor and bring multiple copies to the fair.
