Book by ECU author triggers D.C. conference
A book co-written by East Carolina University sociology professor Dr. Susan C. Pearce has triggered a report and call-in press conference by the Immigration Policy Center in Washington, D.C.

The IPC report draws information from the book, “Immigration and Women: Understanding the American Experience,” published in 2011 by New York University Press. The book was co-authored by Pearce; Elizabeth J. Clifford, associate professor of sociology at Towson University; and Reena Tandon, Ryerson University School of Social Work.
The call-in press conference, scheduled for early December, will focus on women immigrant entrepreneurs, whose numbers have increased dramatically in recent years.
Pearce will take part in the conference, along with Yolanda Voss, president of Yolanda Voss Fashion Gallery of Columbia, Md.; and Mary Giovagnoli, director of the Immigration Policy Center; with commentary from Clifford and Tandon.
