Clifford named to lead ECU alumni

GREENVILLE, NC   (Mar. 15, 2004)   —   Paul Clifford, director of outreach for the University of Connecticut Alumni Association, has been named associate vice chancellor for alumni relations at East Carolina University, effective July 1.

Clifford will oversee all programs and activities of the university’s Alumni Association. ECU has about 108,000 alumni.

Margaret Ward, president of the Alumni Association, said, “We conducted a nationwide search that attracted a number of outstanding candidates, and it was clear that Paul Clifford is one of the best young alumni officials in the country. I am excited that he will be moving to Greenville and becoming a Pirate.”

Chancellor Bill Shelton said Clifford’s “enthusiasm, professionalism and energy will make him exceptionally effective in leading our alumni activities.”

Clifford previously served as director of alumni affairs for the State University of New York at New Paltz and has worked in the Alumni Relations Office at James Madison University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and he is an active member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
