Why did you choose ECU and what are some things that you love most about ECU? I chose ECU because it was a good mix of close to home but away from home. ECU is a beautiful and friendly campus, and that’s what really sold me! Some things I love most about ECU are the environment, the people and the endless opportunities that they allow for students.
What do you remember from your own orientation that made you want to be an OA intern? My OA made me feel welcomed when I felt alone and out of place at orientation. He inspired me to be an OA, so I reached out and asked. I was late to apply but I expressed my interest, and I got the job. I have been an OA for the past two summers and now this year as an OA intern. I love experiencing orientation and hope my career lands here!
How will your experiences shape your approach as an OA intern? My experiences will shape my approach as an intern this year by taking what I have learned as an OA the past two summers and helping guide the new OAs. Each summer has been and will continue to be different, but that’s the best part! I will be looking at orientation this summer through a more professional lens and I’m excited to learn and grow from this experience as well!
What do you hope incoming students and family members takeaway from orientation? I hope that incoming students will walk away with what they feel will best prepare them for college and be confident in returning in the fall. I hope that they see ECU as a friendly, welcoming and supportive place to call home. I hope that family members will walk away feeling that ECU is the best place for their student. I hope that they feel that their student will receive a great education while having fun and staying safe. I hope that families see that we, ECU, care for our students and want them to succeed while they enjoy their years here!
