ECU OA: Lewis Johnson

Why did I choose ECU? I chose ECU because immediately after touring the school I got the feeling that this was where I wanted to be. I love the culture, the activities on campus and the student involvement.
What made me want to be an OA? I think what ultimately made me want to be an OA wasn’t necessarily from orientation. It was from Camp Pirates! Being at that camp with so many of my friends, meeting new people, doing so many outdoor activities allowed me to truly see what it meant to be an OA. I created so many relationships with OAs from last year and over time they gave me so much insight on what it meant to be an OA and that just caught my interest.
How will my experience shape my approach as an OA? I think my experience will allow other people to see how our culture and our community work together to become the Pirate Nation. My main goal for becoming an OA is to build positive friendships and connections with as many new people as I can so if I can make that happen it will shape who I am going forward.
What do you hope incoming students and family members will take away from orientation? I want families and incoming students to take away from orientation that there are many things on our campus that brings all of us together and ultimately everyone working as one is what makes ECU such a great school.
