Tickets are on sale now for the inaugural Child Health Champion Gala, which will help support research and treatments for pediatric illnesses. The event will be held from 6–9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Rock Springs Center in Greenville, and is put on by the ECU Pediatric Unified Research Enterprise within the ECU Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics.
Tickets are $100 per person, or $800 for a table of 10 people. A cash bar, cocktail reception and silent auction begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30.
Proceeds from the Child Health Champion Gala will fund research toward novel treatments for pediatric illnesses and will impact children right here in eastern North Carolina.
“Proceeds will ensure that children with cancer, organ failure, diabetes and other illnesses continue to receive cutting-edge treatments,” said Cierra Buckman, director of research administration in Brody’s Department of Pediatrics.
The gala also celebrates a renewed and realigned emphasis on research in the Department of Pediatrics. Donor support to the department’s research efforts benefits everyone—from patients to the community as a whole. Research is centered on improving the health and quality of life for children in eastern North Carolina; it also benefits ECU students and faculty because it provides valuable experience through turning ideas into tangible realities.
“Our community has been the home of scientific and medical discoveries,” Buckman said. “Your contribution ensures that community-based medicine continues to thrive and that children in eastern North Carolina remain at the forefront of health research.”
