Guitar series honors Hispanic heritage
The 2022 Hispanic Heritage Guitar Series begins Sept. 27 in East Carolina University’s A.J. Fletcher Recital Hall.
All concerts are free and open to the public beginning at 7:30 p.m. A livestream will be available online through the ECU School of Music’s YouTube channel.
ECU School of Music professor Elliot Frank started the concert series six years ago in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, observed Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
Presented by the ECU School of Music and ECU Summer Guitar Festival, the series begins Sept. 27 with a concert by Mexican American guitarist Dieter Hennings-Yeoman, professor of guitar at the University of Kentucky.
On Oct. 6, Frank will perform with Venezuelan guitarist and singer Salome Sandoval.
The last concert featuring Duo Guitiano with Carlos Castilla, guitar, and Amanda Virelles, piano, will be Oct. 13.
