Medical student banquet to be Jan. 24

GREENVILLE, N.C. —   The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University will hold its 25th annual Andrew A. Best M.D. Senior Recognition Banquet Jan. 24 at the Greenville Hilton for graduating minority medical students. 

The event speaker will be Linda Kenney Miller, author of “Beacon on the Hill,” a book about her grandfather, the black medical pioneer Dr. John A. Kenney. 

Best was Greenville’s first African-American physician. He died in 2005.

Tickets are $30 or $15 for ECU students. The event is sponsored by the Student National Medical Association, the Academic Support & Enrichment Center and the Vice Chairs of Diversity Initiatives at the Brody School of Medicine. For more information, call 252-744-2500.
