Why did you choose ECU and what are some things that you love most about ECU?
I originally chose ECU for their atmospheric science program. The greatest thing that I love about ECU is the student organizations and willingness to serve and give back to the surrounding communities.
What do you remember from your own orientation that made you want to be an OA intern? I came in as a transfer and did not attend orientation. However, I knew the opportunity to represent the university and be able to help future Pirates find their way home was right up my alley. I served as an OA last summer and this year I am serving as the OA intern, making sure that every OA has an outlet to be heard, felt and understood, along with being support for professional staff.
How will your experiences shape your approach as an OA intern? Serving in and as leadership in several service-based organizations on campus has given me the confidence to take initiative, collaborate effectively with diverse groups, and lead with purpose in both academic and professional settings.
What do you hope incoming students and family members takeaway from orientation? I hope incoming students and their families leave orientation feeling more confident, connected and excited about the journey ahead.
