Why did you choose ECU and what are some things that you love most about ECU? I chose ECU because of the community feel to the school. ECU has many different opportunities for me and other student because there is something here for everyone! I also liked how ECU had resources that helped me as a student-parent. The daycare on campus has been an amazing resource and has helped me stay successful as a student.
What do you remember from your own orientation that made you want to be an OA? I was a shy student during my orientation, but the OAs pushed me to socialize and that really turned my experience around. I want to be able to improve the orientation experience for students who may not be fully comfortable.
How will your experiences shape your approach as an OA? As a returning OA, I aim to learn from my experience last year and improve on my skills. I want to make students feel as comfortable as possible and help them get out of their comfort zone to grow. I hope to connect with my students and create a strong relationship with them!
What do you hope incoming students and family members takeaway from orientation? I hope students and families leave orientation with a sense of clarity. Orientation can be tough, but I want new Pirates to feel welcomed, comfortable and safe. I hope they gain knowledge about ECU and what we have to offer!
