ECU OA: Trinity Eaton

Majors: International business and German

Hometown: Charlotte

Why did you choose ECU and what are some things that you love most about ECU? I chose ECU because I fell in love with the campus when I toured the school. Since one of my majors is international business, study abroad is a requirement for me and during the tour of the campus, I learned that ECU has some great programs for studying abroad. Some things I love the most about ECU are the professors and faculty on campus, they made me feel like I belong at ECU. I also love all the resources we have on campus, especially career services because they helped me with my interview preparation for the OA position.

What do you remember from your own orientation that made you want to be an OA? I remember seeing all the OAs were energetic and friendly during my orientation and I’m a shy person, so I wanted to grow as a person and have a job that pushed me out my comfort zone.

How will your experiences shape your approach as an OA? My small group during orientation wasn’t very interactive with each other so I would go into my small groups making sure the students are interactive with each other by doing ice breakers and helping students that feel left out.

What do you hope incoming students and family members takeaway from orientation? I hope incoming students get a sense of belonging during orientation and make friends to help their transition into college a smoother process.
