ECU medical school faculty receive Master Educator honors
The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University has named three medical educators as the 2025 recipients of its Master Educator Awards.

Drs. Lynn Morris, Mary Catherine Turner and Lacy Hobgood are the recipients of the 2025 Brody School of Medicine Master Educator Awards.
The Master Educator Program is designed to recognize excellence in education in a variety of categories, including outstanding teaching or mentorship, educational leadership and administration, and educational innovation and curriculum development.
The winners were announced during a Brody faculty meeting on April 10, during which each winner received a white coat featuring a master educator designation, a plaque and a pin.
“Each year, the Master Educator Award gives us the opportunity to celebrate faculty who go above and beyond in shaping the educational experience at Brody,” said Allison Flowers, director of Brody’s Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development. “These honorees represent the highest standards of teaching, mentorship, and leadership. Their impact is lasting — not only on the students they teach, but also on the culture of excellence they help sustain within our school. Recognizing them is both a celebration of their contributions and a reflection of our mission to develop dedicated, compassionate physicians for our region.”
Faculty members and students may nominate educators to receive the award, and a committee of faculty members and students decides on the recipients. Since the program began in 2002, 87 Brody faculty members have received the master educator recognition.
