ECU to launch eastern North Carolina alumni chapter
East Carolina University alumni living in the heart of Pirate territory will have a chapter of their own when the East Carolina University Alumni Association (ECUAA) launches the eastern North Carolina chapter on Aug. 8.
ECUAA will host a launch party at TowneBank Tower to celebrate the chapter. Alumni can register to attend the celebration through the ECUAA website. Attendance is $25 per person, which will include food from Villa Verde and Nothing Bundt Cakes, and beverages from Carolina Eagle Distributing.
Kylee Corbett ’19, assistant director of alumni engagement, said reinstating the chapter is a response to alumni requests for local engagement options. Corbett said alumni will be able to engage in events, mentorship programs and volunteer opportunities through the ENC chapter.
“The alumni relations team saw the immense potential for an ENC chapter to flourish,” Corbett said. “Having a chapter in the heart of Pirate Nation is crucial for maintaining a strong connection with our alumni.”
Corbett described the event as a community-centered gathering. Attendees will be treated to music from country artist Cooper Greer and have an opportunity to take a commemorative photo with PeeDee The Pirate, among other activities.
“This chapter and the event add to a sense of belonging and pride for alumni,” Corbett said. “By reinstating this chapter, we’ve created a vibrant platform for alumni to reconnect with fellow Pirates.”
