ECU Rural Education Institute to host summer learning exchange
The Rural Education Institute at East Carolina University will host its annual summer learning exchange on Wednesday. Educators from across eastern North Carolina will attend as part of an effort to recognize and encourage partnership between ECU’s Rural Education Institute and local school districts.
This year’s keynote speaker is Michael Bonner, an eastern North Carolina native and former Pitt County Schools teacher. Bonner has been highlighted by Ellen DeGeneres and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt for his creative ways of encouraging learning in the classroom. This is important for event attendees who are striving to boost student engagement and academic success.
Participants in the Educator Pipeline in Rural Action for Teaching Equity (edPIRATE) program and the Collaborative Action in Rural Education (CARE) Corps will also attend.
The event aims to deepen collaboration between ECU and local school districts and enhance the educational practices and outcomes for rural students across eastern North Carolina.
