Grad Profiles: Spring 2024

ECU goes with you

This phrase is often repeated in speeches, videos and alumni messages to new East Carolina University graduates because their time at ECU is an experience they will take with them no matter where they go.

Each graduate takes a little piece of the university with them. It might be the lessons from a professor, an appreciation for the world around us thanks to a study abroad trip, lifelong friendships, a newfound interest in research or a career they never thought possible before coming to ECU.

The seven ECU graduates profiled here offer stories of inspiration and dreams realized that they will take with them long after they walk across the stage. They represent first-generation students who are rewriting their family’s story, a former police officer who is choosing to use tragedy to inspire, and others who are taking ECU’s motto of service into the world through their careers.

On Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m., they will join more than 3,800 graduates in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends at spring commencement.

Congratulations to the spring class of 2024!
