NOT FAR FROM HOME
Spring 2023 Pirates reflect on ECU experience as graduation nears
“It just feels like home.”
The phrase is uttered by countless Pirates every year, whether it’s their first time on campus, a return to Pirate Nation after winter break, or reconnecting with old friends during alumni weekend.
There’s no place like ECU. The opportunities our Pirates seize during their time on campus build them into the future leaders they’re destined to become.
This spring’s graduate profiles are part of more than 4,500 graduates celebrating with family and friends this weekend.
Some found their home with the dance team. Another with his fraternity. And a third upon returning after a deployment in Africa.

Some find their voice in Pirate Nation and advocate for students with disabilities, while others travel 8,000 miles from home to fight for better health care.
One may become the next great serial entrepreneur you see on television, while another is serving up smiles at a dental clinic in Hyde County.
Congratulations, Class of 2023. No matter where our Pirates end up, they’ll always have ECU to call home.
