ECU holiday musical events, glass sale planned

Music and merriment will soon arrive with East Carolina University performances planned for the first weekend of December.

TubaChristmas will be Dec. 3. The outdoor performance features traditional holiday songs arranged for a large ensemble of tubas, baritones, euphoniums and sousaphones. Two shows coordinated by the School of Music are planned at noon and 1 p.m. at the College of Fine Arts and Communication’s Proctor-Yongue House, 601 E. Fifth Street, Greenville.

Dec. 1: VIP Preview Glass Holiday Sale, 4-6 p.m., for donors to any of the college’s Friends organizations

Dec. 2: Glass Sale/First Friday, 3-8 p.m.; ECU Chamber Singers, University Chorale and Concert Choir, 7:30 p.m.

Dec. 3: Glass Sale, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; TubaChristmas, noon and 1 p.m.

Any musician who plays baritone, euphonium, sousaphone or tuba is invited to perform in TubaChristmas with a $10 donation to benefit the Harvey Phillips Foundation. Musician registration will be 11-11:45 a.m. at the Proctor-Yongue House. For more information or to register to perform, call 252-328-1693 or email williamsjarr17@ecu.edu.

On Dec. 2, the ECU Chamber Singers, University Chorale and Concert Choir will present Sounds of the Season at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 E. Fourth St, Greenville. Finally, the College of Art and Design will have a handblown glass sale featuring glass ornaments, flowers, vases, cups, bowls and sculptures at the Proctor-Yongue House Dec. 1-3.

Supporters of the college (Friends of the School of Art and Design, School of Music, S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series, etc.) will have an opportunity to shop first from 4-8 p.m. on Dec. 1. The public sale is 3-8 p.m. on Dec. 2 in conjunction with Greenville’s First Friday event, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 3. Proceeds will support ECU’s GlasStation facility and programs in Farmville.
