The Triangle Consortium for Reproductive Biology had its 30th annual meeting this month at the East Carolina Heart Institute.

Dr. Chris Geyer, associate professor of anatomy and cell biology at East Carolina University and a co-chair of the event, said it brought together 75 principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, and research technicians from across the state and some from Virginia to discuss topics related to reproductive biology.

“This year’s attendees represented institutions including the National Institute of Environmental Health, UNC-Chapel Hill, N.C. State, Duke, UNC Greensboro, East Carolina University, Randolph-Macon and William & Mary,” he said. “It was an honor for us to host reproductive biology researchers and experts of this caliber.”

In addition to keynote speaker Dr. Balaji Rao from N.C. State’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, the day’s sessions included a presentation by Dr. Linda May, interim chair of foundational sciences in the ECU School of Dental Medicine, on the “influence of maternal exercise on maternal and cord blood metabolites.”

Oleksander “Sasha” Kirsanov, a member of Geyer’s lab, won the Campion Award for best poster.
