Campus Update – Matrix Scoring, Community Expectations
The community transmission rate in Pitt County and continued concerns regarding hospital capacity keep the University at a MODERATE risk level with no changes to community expectations. The CDC COVID Data Tracker continues to classify Pitt County as an area of Substantial community transmission and recommends that everyone should wear a mask in public, indoor settings.
Our on-campus risk remains low with just six new cases over the past seven days, down from nine cases the prior week. The campus positivity rate continues to stay well below 1%. Total campus community vaccination rate is 78% with employees reaching 85%.
Pitt County community data continues to improve with reductions in new cases and hospitalizations. The county positivity rate has declined to 4.4%, which now equals the North Carolina rate. This rate is within the lower risk level of below 5%.
Please continue to wear masks indoors and get vaccinated or tested as soon as possible after being notified. Thank you for your continued commitment to keeping campus safe this semester.
