ECU Police arrest suspect in weekend robbery

On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12, East Carolina University Police arrested Jamarcus Jamal Patterson, 28 years old of 3828 Sterling Point Drive, Winterville, and charged him with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is not a student at ECU.

At approximately 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning, an ECU student was robbed of her purse while outside Fletcher Residence Hall near Fifth Street on campus. The victim was not injured. Officers from ECU and Greenville police departments coordinated a joint investigation that led to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
