Rogers: Seeking Pirate Perspectives
In March, my family and I returned to Greenville as I became ECU’s 12th chancellor. We came home because we believe in the mission of this university, focusing on student success, public service and regional transformation.
During my transition period, I set a priority to hold listening sessions with Pirate Nation. In doing so I recognize that there is much on our minds and our hearts as we respond to a number of public challenges, and I believe we should also celebrate our many successes. I do not come into this role as your chancellor with all the answers. Actually, I think that’s an advantage, because it gives me an opportunity to listen to each of you.
As a way to connect with members of the ECU community, I am launching Pirate Perspectives, a listening and learning series. These conversations will allow me to hear from a diverse set of Pirates who all have a stake in the university’s future. I promise to be an active listener during this series and beyond.
I am eager to hear from you — either during one of the forums over the coming months or through the online survey — as I learn more about your aspirations for our university. The themes that emerge from these conversations will guide the strategy as we chart ECU’s course in the coming years to be mission aligned, future focused and innovation driven.
I encourage you to visit the Pirate Perspectives webpage to learn more about this initiative. Thank you in advance for sharing your perspectives with me.
