Mitchelson: Vaccine update for employees — March 3

On Tuesday, March 2, the NC Department of Health and Human Services and Gov. Roy Cooper announced that the state is moving to fully open COVID-19 Vaccine Priority Group 3 effective today, March 3, a week earlier than expected.

Group 3 includes “college and university instructors and support staff” who are working in-person, “including staff who anticipate an imminent return to the work setting,” along with other frontline essential staff and researchers, as defined by NC DHHS.

Both ECU Student Health Services and ECU Physicians have been approved as vaccine distribution sites. At this time, ECU SHS and ECU Physicians are waiting to receive allotments of vaccine. More information on how to sign up for appointments will be shared when vaccine doses have been received and are ready for distribution.

In the meantime, ECU personnel are encouraged to use off-campus vaccine sites identified on the NC DHHS vaccine provider website.

Continue to check the ECU vaccine information webpage for updates on vaccination clinics for employees and students. The website also has information so you can make an informed decision about receiving the vaccine.

If you have any questions about the vaccination or our distribution plan, please email ecucovidvaccine@ecu.edu.

Stay safe Pirates,
