Coleman named interim vice chancellor for administration and finance
East Carolina University has named Stephanie Coleman as interim vice chancellor for administration and finance. Coleman has served as associate vice chancellor for budget and athletics fiscal affairs since 2018.
“Stephanie Coleman has stepped up to fill this role at a critical time for the university, and having a finance expert of her caliber to turn to is another example of the quality of the staff and faculty here at ECU,” said Interim Chancellor Ron Mitchelson. “I look forward to working closely with her to ensure the university’s continued fiscal stability.”
Coleman will lead a division of more than 1,000 staff and oversee all aspects of the university’s financial resources, which include total revenues of more than $900 million and a total endowment of more than $200 million.
A Roanoke Rapids native, Coleman earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration at ECU. She started her professional career with the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor before coming to ECU in 2004, where she has served in several capacities related to the university’s financial operations.
“As a two-time alumna of ECU, I am honored to serve my alma mater in this role,” Coleman said. “I look forward to working with the university’s leadership team as we move things forward.”
Coleman replaces Sara Thorndike, who has served as ECU’s chief financial officer since March 2018. Thorndike has been named senior vice president for finance and business/treasurer at Penn State University.
