Mask Compliance Expectations on Campus
Good morning ECU Pirates,
Just a moment of your time to remind you that we are all wearing masks at ECU. We wear masks in order to protect others on our campus. It’s so important to success that we have written a regulation to require it. Personally, I do not need a regulation to require a face-covering if I know it will help me to protect my colleagues. It’s simply the right thing to do and there is a mountain of evidence showing that it works.
I am occasionally hearing that we have noncompliance issues and I want those to end. There can be no choice in this matter. We must each model the community expectations we have for one another—face covering, six feet of distance when possible, and frequent hand washing. I’m confident that the examples of noncompliance will disappear and that Pirates will do the right things because we care about each other.
I indicated back in May that our success would fully depend on adherence to these community expectations, and I don’t think I was wrong. Join me in modeling the behaviors that we want of all employees and students at ECU. Thank you in advance for being great Pirates.
