FACILITIES AND SERVICES AVAILABILITY

While ECU remains open, there will be some significant changes. There will be minimal on-campus operations, which includes limiting the number of students on campus.

Listed below is information for some services available as the university transitions to remote instruction. Please be aware these may change as the circumstances and needs change.


Campus Recreation & Wellness Facilities


The following locations are closed until further notice:

Career Services



Cashier’s Office


  • The Cashier’s Office, located in the Old Cafeteria building, will be open for face-to-face student and departmental services on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • All other cashier related student services will be conducted daily through remote communications by phone at 252-737-6886 or by email at cashier@ecu.edu. 
  • The Financial Aid office utilizes a drop box for students to leave documents related to their financial aid file, but is not available for in-person discussion. 

Center for Counseling & Student Development


  • Crisis services have moved to phone only access (no face-to-face appointments). For services or for crisis consultation, please call 252-328-6661 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), leave a message, and a counselor will return your call.
  • For urgent mental health needs after hours and on weekends, please call 252-328-6661 and press 2 to talk with a crisis counselor by phone.
  • For emergencies, please call 911 or go to your local hospital.

Dean of Students Office

Dining Facilities


Minimal sites open with exceptions:

  • Todd Dining Hall: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for brunch and 5-7 p.m. for dinner daily, seven days a week
  • Pirate Market POD: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Disability Student Services

Dowdy Student Stores


  • Closed until further notice
  • Dowdy Student Stores has partnered with their digital course materials provider, Vital Source, which will provide ECU students with access to digital textbooks until May 25, 2020. More information can be found at http://bookshelf.vitalsource.com/
  • Caps, gowns and accessories for those wanting to take photos can be ordered online.

ECU Police Department

Health Sciences Student Center


  • Open 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Starbucks open 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18-20

Library Services


Joyner Library

Joyner Library will be closed until further notice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Students can click here to access library resources online to access library resources online and get answers from librarians via chat, email or phone.
  • Books and media may be returned in the library’s book drops. Click here for the book drop locations.
  • We can also renew items, including equipment, for you. Simply email circulation@ecu.edu or call 252-328-6690 and leave a voicemail.
  • When you are ready to return materials, please email jis@ecu.edu to request a prepaid UPS label that you can use at any UPS location to return the book/media item for free.
  • As the pandemic response changes, the library’s hours will change. Visit the hours section of the library website for the most current hours.
  • If you need additional library books/media during the rest of the semester, you may request them through the interlibrary loan service and we’ll ship it to you for free; the interlibrary loan service can also provide scanned chapters and articles to your email address.

      Laupus Library

      Effective 5 p.m. Friday, March 20, Laupus Library is closed to all patrons. Library staff will be available and virtually providing services 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday-Saturday.

      Librarian consultations, online resources, limited circulation services still available via phone, email, chat, text.


      Main Campus Student Center

      1 Card Office


      • The ECU 1 Card Office on Main Campus is monitoring email and phones remotely as well as providing office hours for card production by appointment only. 
      • Please email 1card@ecu.edu or call 252-328-2673 to make an appointment if you have questions or need your 1 Card made or replaced.

      Parking


      Operational hours for parking and transportation services will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but all department business will be conducted via email or phone. Parking garage is open and free for all to park.


      Pirate Academic Success Center


      The Pirate Academic Success Center is offering online services, including tutoring, study skills coaching and other options. Please check out the PASC website for additional information.


      Pirate Techs


      • Main Campus Student Center and Joyner Library locations are closed.
      • Remote support via phone and WebEx will still be provided, details are on the Pirate Techs website.

      Purple Pantry


      In light of COVID-19, Purple Pantry has adjusted operations to make sure students in Greenville are able to access food and hygiene items by providing Pirate Packs. Inside the Pirate Packs are food and hygiene items that students need.

      To promote social distancing, we are now offering to deliver the Pirate Packs to students that are on-campus or off-campus on Wednesdays starting April 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If students need a Pirate Pack delivered to them, they must submit a request using the Pirate Pack Delivery Request Form by 5 p.m. each Monday. By 5 p.m. each Tuesday, staff will notify students of their delivery time window and will meet them at their designated location. These forms will reopen each Thursday at 9 a.m. for the next week.

      If you or someone you know would like to donate to Purple Pantry, donations are accepted each Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at the Main Campus Student Center Bus Loop. Most needed items include: household paper products, menstrual products, hygiene items, ready-to-eat foods, canned meats and vegetables, breakfast items, drinks and snacks. Please no glass items.

      Residence Halls


      All will close on March 25 except for the one(s) where the few students are staying (has not been determined yet).


      Speech Communication Center


      • Open for online appointments only for the remainder of spring semester.
        • Monday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
        • Tuesday: Noon (12 p.m.) to 4 p.m.
        • Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
        • Thursday: Noon (12 p.m.) to 4 p.m.
      • With online appointments, we can communicate via video and text chat. Below are the steps to make an online appointment:
        • Go to https://communication.ecu.edu/cce/
        • Click on “Speech Communication Center” then go to “Appointments”
        • Click on “Make an Appointment” (righthand side)
        • “Register for an Account” if you do not already have an account
        • Log in and you will see the appointment system. Any white box is an available time to meet.
        • Click on the white box and fill out the information.
        • Near the top, there will be a box asking if you’d like to meet online. Click “Yes.”
      • On the day of your appointment, log into the appointment system again and find your designated time block. Click “Start or Join Online Consultation.”
      • Contact the Speech Communication Center at commcenter@ecu.edu if you have further questions or concerns.

      Student Health Services


      Available to maintain ongoing healthcare for students (e.g. medication refills, follow up lab tests, brief questions, etc.).

      • Students should call 252-328-6841 to make appointments. Face-to-face appointments will be limited to urgent care.
      • They can also call 252-328-6841 for consultation and information.
      • Open 8 a.m. to noon (12 p.m.) and 1:30-5 p.m. Monday-Friday

      Transit Services


      • No transit or SafeRide service
      • Pirate Access 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Call 252-328-7433 to schedule a trip.
