Spring 2019 class treasures opportunities, involvement

East Carolina University’s graduating class of spring 2019 includes more than 4,100 students who will receive their degree during Friday’s commencement ceremony.

Among them are students with high aspirations, like double-degree earner Michael Denning Jr. and Pirates’ basketball player Justice Obashon, both of whom plan to attend medical school. Student researcher Glenesha Berryman, MBA-earner Pol Solanellas Manzanares and Trina Locklear, a software engineering master’s student, all are headed to graduate school.

Film and video production major Juliana Lane borrowed from personal experiences to produce “Paranormal Insomniac,” a film that explores the effects of prescription drug abuse. And heading directly into the workforce as teachers are Shainah Andrews, who plans to teach English in South America, and Katie White, who will teach and coach dance at a Cary high school.
