ECU to host Part-Time Job and Internship Fair for students and alumni
East Carolina University Career Services will hold the Spring 2019 Part-Time Job and Internship Fair on Feb. 7 in the Main Campus Student Center Ballroom from 1-4 p.m.
The event will be hosted in collaboration with the ECU Student Employment Office, the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement, and Federal Work Study.
The Part-Time Job and Internship Fair is open to students of all majors. This event will offer students opportunities to seek both on- and off-campus employment. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with employers across industries that include recruiting, construction, law enforcement, business, government and nonprofit agencies.
“Look Sharp’s 2016 State of Millennial Hiring Report found that over 80 percent of college graduates said their internships helped them shift their career direction or focus of classes and major,” said Tom Halasz, director of ECU Career Services.
A study conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that 53 percent of graduates reported that they obtained their current positions directly from their internships or internship contacts.
“These statistics show the value of experiential learning opportunities like internships, part-time positions and volunteerism; they are directly connected to positive career outcomes,” said Halasz.
Participating employers include the American Red Cross, Autism Society of North Carolina, City of Raleigh, City of Greenville, Eastern 4-H Center, Enterprise, Grifols, H2OBX Waterpark, N.C. Department of Transportation, N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, Northwestern Mutual, U.S. National Whitewater Center, and multiple YMCA sites. These organizations’ representatives will be recruiting candidates for seasonal employment, internships, nonprofit volunteers, federal programs and on-campus employment.
