Coastal Studies Institute 2018 Summer Camp registration opens March 1

Coastal Studies Institute's Summer CampRegistration begins March 1 for the Coastal Studies Institute’s (CSI) 2018 Summer Camps. CSI will offer 14 summer experiences for 9-15-year-old students between the dates of June 11 and Aug. 10.

These day camps combine STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts with fun, hands-on activities to create an educational, exciting and rewarding summer experience.

Students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of lab and field experiences including snorkeling, kayaking, collecting species data by seining, trawling and hook-and-line fishing, studying plankton in the lab, engineering ocean exploring equipment, and many other fun educational activities. Getting wet and muddy is par for the course, so a change of clothes and shoes is required.

Camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. at CSI and includes T-shirts, water bottles and snacks. Campers are required to bring a lunch to camp each day. There are a variety of camp experiences that focus on everything from art to scuba diving. These camps will provide educational activities, exploration and investigation in the ecosystems found in northeastern North Carolina.
