Spring Career Fair set for March 20
East Carolina University will host more than 125 national employers and recruiters at the 2014 Spring Career Fair scheduled from 1 – 4 p.m. March 20 at Minges Coliseum.
For the second straight year, the event has a waiting list of national companies and recruiters wanting to participate. Many recruiters will remain in town following the Career Fair to conduct interviews with promising students.
“Employers tell us that they find ECU students to be some of the best prepared students in the state academically and in career readiness,” said Karen Thompson, ECU Career Center director. “They rank ECU very high on customer service and support…and they seem to enjoy being in the midst of the campus environment.”
Recruiters and hiring managers from local and national companies, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies will attend. While some will recruit specific majors, many are interested in connecting with students in a variety of majors. Among the companies to be represented are Geico, Goodyear, Target, BB&T, King’s Dominion and Enterprise Holdings, as well as North Carolina companies such as Gray’s Outer Banks Lifestyle Clothing Company, Kitty Hawk Kites, Sanderson Farms, Mt. Olive and Pickle Company and the Greensboro Police Department.
Approximately 1,500 students are expected to attend to investigate internship and employment opportunities.
Before the Spring Career Fair, an Education Fair will be held from 8 – 10:30 a.m. in Minges Coliseum, with representatives from public, charter and private schools from more than 60 school districts, targeting ECU students who are prepared to take on jobs as teachers, school administrators or other education-related positions.
