Joyner Library to hold edible book festival

Joyner Library at East Carolina University will host an Edible Book Festival April 6 on the second floor of the library. The festival celebrates books and food and the people who love them.
A silent auction held during the event benefits the Joyner Library Preservation Fund. A demonstration of techniques and capabilities of the library’s Conservation Lab is also planned.
Organizers of the event urge participants to enter with a piece of edible art related to books. The art can make a pun on a book’s title, refer to a scene or a character, look like a book or just be related to books. All entries must be edible. Examples can be found online by searching for “edible book festival.”

Prizes will be awarded for wittiest, most edible, least edible, honorable mentions and youth (ages 12 and under).
The schedule for events is as follows:
- 2 – 3 p.m. Entries delivered, installed, photographed
- 3 – 4 p.m. Public viewing, silent auction, voting. Refreshments served.4:15 p.m. Prize winners and acution winners announced
