FRIDAY FLAKES
Winter storm brings short reprieve from ECU classes
Pirate snow lovers delighted in an unusual flurry of activity on campus Friday, Jan. 25 when a winter storm arrived at East Carolina University.
The storm began shortly after noon with a brief downpour of large snowflakes. Experts predicted a transition to sleet and freezing rain, and the potential for hazardous driving conditions prompted university officials to cancel classes after 3 p.m. on Friday.
Pictured below are images of campus during the snow, including ECU student Samantha Arnold, wearing a red “Let it Snow” sweater. Arnold and her friend Holly J. Frances Britton were out enjoying the winter weather.
